What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files your browser saves when you visit a site. They help keep you logged in, remember your settings, and let us see how people actually use the site. Some disappear when you close the tab, others hang around for longer.

Using our website means you’re fine with this policy. We’ll walk through what we use cookies for and how you can switch the non-essential ones off if you’d rather.

The Types We Use

Not all cookies do the same job, and most of them you can turn off without breaking anything.

  • Strictly necessary: session ID, login status, security tokens
  • Analytical: Google Analytics (_ga, _gid)
  • Preference: language, display settings
  • Marketing: retargeting, personalised ads

The strictly necessary ones aren’t really optional. Without them the site wouldn’t keep you logged in or protect your account properly, so we don’t ask permission for those specifically.

Managing Your Cookies

There’s a cookie banner when you first land on the site, and you can pick exactly what to allow. Rejecting everything non-essential is just as easy as clicking accept – we didn’t bury that option behind three menus.

Changed your mind later? Cookie settings sit at the bottom of the site, and switching things off there doesn’t lock you out of anything. Your browser has its own controls too, if you’d rather manage things that way.

Third-Party Cookies

Google Analytics is the main outside tool placing cookies on our site. It tracks general traffic patterns so we can see what’s working and what isn’t, and Google’s own privacy policy covers what they do with that data on their end.

You can block these through the cookie banner with zero downside for you. We’ll add anything new here if we start using other third-party tools down the line.

UK GDPR and Your Consent

We follow UK GDPR, which is the version of data protection law that applies here since Brexit. Analytical and marketing cookies need your explicit yes before we switch them on, and you can pull that consent back whenever you want.

No pre-ticked boxes, no locking people out for saying no. Whatever you choose gets remembered, and changing your mind later takes about ten seconds.

PECR

PECR is the UK rule that deals specifically with cookies and electronic marketing – separate from GDPR but covering similar ground. It’s why we ask before tracking and why we don’t email you things you never signed up for.

We stick to this closely. Strictly necessary cookies are the only ones that go on without asking first.

Your Rights

You can ask what data we’ve got on you and have anything wrong corrected. You can also ask us to delete it or stop processing it in certain ways.

Get in touch through our contact page for any of this, and we’ll get back to you within 30 days. That’s a legal deadline, not a vague promise.

If This Policy Changes

Laws shift occasionally, and so does how the site works behind the scenes, so this page might get updated from time to time. Anything significant gets flagged by email or right here on the page.

Most changes end up being small wording tweaks rather than anything that affects you directly. If we ever add a new tool that places cookies, you’ll see it called out clearly.
