Who We Are and How We Handle Your Data

Love Casino collects your data because we run a gambling platform and that’s legally required of us. We’re based in Cambridge and follow UK GDPR, the data protection law that applies here since Brexit. That means you have real rights over your own information.

We have a Data Protection Officer who keeps an eye on how we handle your data day to day. You can reach the DPO through our contact page if you’ve got a question. That’s the right place to start for anything privacy-related.

What Data We Collect

Love Casino asks for your name, address, date of birth, email and phone number when you sign up. We also need a copy of your ID or passport for verification, which is a legal requirement for gambling platforms, not something we made up ourselves.

  • Registration details: name, address, date of birth, email, phone number
  • Verification details: ID copy, passport, proof of address
  • Payment data: deposits and withdrawals
  • Gameplay data: which games, session times, wins and losses
  • Technical data: IP address, browser, cookies

We can see how much you deposit and withdraw, which games you play, and roughly how long you spend playing. This is mostly for admin and fraud prevention rather than anything more invasive. Your IP address and browser details get logged too, since that’s technically necessary for the site to work properly.

Why We Hold Your Data

We need your name and address because you want an account and we need to know who you actually are. That’s the contract between us. Your ID exists in our system because UK gambling law requires age verification before anyone plays.

Your payment data sits with us because transactions need processing, and payment providers require that information to do their job. Your gameplay history helps us manage your account and spot fraud when it happens. Both of these fall under what’s called legitimate interest under UK GDPR.

Who Gets to See Your Data

Love Casino doesn’t hand your data out casually. Payment providers like Visa and Mastercard get your payment details because they process the transactions themselves. KYC companies like Onfido see your ID because verifying who you are is literally their job.

Authorities get your data if the law requires it, full stop. Advertisers don’t get it, other gambling companies don’t get it, and we don’t sell it to anyone. There’s no hidden data-sharing arrangement buried in some clause you’d never read.

How Long We Keep Everything

We hold your data while your account stays active, and certain things stick around for years after closure. This isn’t optional on our end – tax authorities require payment records to be kept for at least 6 years under UK law.

Your gameplay history also needs long-term storage under gambling regulations. We can’t simply delete your ID or address details either, since regulators can request them later. Cookies and technical logs, by contrast, get cleared out much sooner.

What Your Rights Actually Are

You can ask what data we hold on you and get anything inaccurate corrected. You can also request that certain data be deleted, except where we’re legally obligated to keep it regardless of your preference.

You can object to specific types of processing if you disagree with how we’re using your data. You can also ask for your data in a standard format so you can take it elsewhere, which is called data portability. To do any of this, just reach out through our contact page.

Filing a Complaint

If you think we’re mishandling your data, you can file a complaint, and the first step is contacting our DPO through the contact page. That’s usually the fastest way to get something resolved.

If you’re not happy with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, which is the UK’s data protection authority. This is free, and they investigate breaches of UK GDPR independently of us. We won’t try to talk you out of going to them if that’s the route you want.

How We Protect Your Data

We use 256-bit SSL encryption, which keeps your information secure whenever you make a payment. Your password gets hashed rather than stored in plain text, so we genuinely can’t see what it actually is. We run regular security audits on top of that.

Staff can’t just browse your data on a whim, since there are access controls in place limiting who sees what. That said, no system anywhere is completely unbreakable. If something does go wrong, we’ll let you know rather than quietly hoping you don’t notice.

Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy can change as laws shift or our own practices evolve over time. We’ll flag anything major through email or right here on the page itself.

Checking back occasionally is worth doing, especially if it’s been a while since you last read this. Most updates end up being small clarifications rather than anything that meaningfully changes your rights.
